Wooden Architecture Route in Małopolska Region encompasses over 250 historic buildings of timber construction so distinctive to the Polish landscape and fortunately well preserved, especially in Małopolska. The Route connects picturesque Roman Catholic churches and beautiful Orthodox temples; slender bell towers; Old-Polish Style manors; stand-alone houses and open-air museums – the most precious monuments of folk material culture. Eight of the sites en route are recognized the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of those, church of St Leonard in Lipnica Murowana is the one closest to Tarnów.
Wooden Architecture Route is the initiative of the Małopolska Region, supervised and maintained by the Małopolska Tourist Organization www.drewniana.malopolska.pl
