In 1937 in the village of Mała Christ the King Monument, patterned after the one in Rio de Janerio, was erected. Wojciech Durek, founder of the monument, was a resident of Mała, who before World War II held an office of a rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The monument in Mała is 17,5m tall, Christ’s arm-span equals 8m (the monument in Rio de Janerio, unveiled in 1931, is 38m tall).

The monument was put up as a vote of thanksgiving for saving the village of Mała from a hailstorm that devastated neighboring villages.
